Our Newest addition to our family

This is our newest addition to our family. She is Sandy. She is a German Shepherd cross with a Husky and Lab.

Sandy is a 4month old puppy. We got here at the NWASS (North West Animal Shelter Society). They rescue dogs and cats that have been abandoned and give them a second chance at life in not being in a shelter caged up.

Sandy was found in a town not far from my home (being 3hours away) running loose and very skinny and hungry.

We paid $75 for her. Normally it would of been $150 which would of included her needles and fixing but since she is really young all she had done was her first needles done. So we had to pay for her second needles, flea treatment and rabbies and they gave her a second dose of deworming on the house. All she needs done now in March is to get fixed and get her flea treatment done every month after March so she is protected in the summer months.

So this is the new little bundle in our home.

Something I found on the internet from an animal adoption agency, where we are planning on getting a dog

TEN COMMANDMENTS OF A RESPONSIBLE PET OWNER

1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be very painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me - it is crucial for my well being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment. I HAVE ONLY YOU!
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice when it's speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I'LL NEVER FORGET IT.
7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could easily crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food. I've been out in the sun too long, or my heart may be getting old and weak.
9. Take care of me when I get old. You too, will grow old.
10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch it" or, "Let it happen in my absence. "Everything is easier for ME if you are there. Remember, I love you.

Things We Can Learn From A Dog...

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride,
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps and stretch before rising.
Run, romp and play daily.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
Be loyal, Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run right back andmake friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Beautiful Stewart BC

I have finally made it here safe and sound.

It is so beautiful here. Everywhere you look you see mountains, and more mountains. It looks exactly like the pics I put up here a few blogs ago.

The town is tinny and news travels fast in this town.

My family's goal is to stay here for ever if we feel the same in two years from now we plan on buying our first home here.

Will post pics as soon as I can.

We made it safely but our car did get damaged a bit as we slide on some black ice and our trailer whiped lashed our car. No one was hurt well except me, I got bad tension in my right shoulder area but that is about it. But our car has a nice little dent in it. Pics to come.

I Finally get to leave Montreal, YEAH

Don't take me wrong, Montreal is a really nice place to visit. It is a beautiful place in the summer with tons of things to do. You cannot get bord in Montreal even in the winter time.

But when I moved here it was only supposed to be for 2years at the most. But I ended up finding my husband here and we have been here for 8 years.

We are taking a big move across the country and I cannot wait. But it has not really hit me yet. I dont feel like I am moving that far. I feel like I am just moving across town.

I dont think it's going to hit me until I am on the plane and I am going there or it may not hit me until I am in my new home and seeing the beauty all around me.

Finally Goodbye COLD

I have been coughing and sneezing for a month, with a blocked nose at night, and bad congestion for a long time. On top of that last night my throat was sore to touch. I decided to go see the doc and miss a day of work and see if I can get some medicine.

I finally got some. I can get better finally.

I might call in for tomorrow as well as I still dont feel 100% and really need the break from all of my moving. packing life.

enjoy the pics of Stewart BC.

A week and a half to go

There is only a week and a half to go before going off on my big move across the country.

My husband got a job as a Border Service Officer and accepted a job in a remote area with only 500 people (actually its a bit less than that). But we are near an ocean and big beautiful mountains.

I just cannot wait to go. It will be like camping all year round.

Will post pics as soon as I can.

The town's people say that you can really see bears walking in your back yard in the evening and even see dears and other wild life. Ah, what a great place to raise your children where they can see and learn with hands on lessons on what a beautiful place they live.
The 1st pic is looking over the channel of Stewart BC and Hyder Alaska
The 2nd pic is the view of the mountains of Stewart BC
The 3rd pic is a place where they use to dump logs during the loging company but not now
The 4th pic is Downtown Stewart BC

Sniffle Cough Cough!!

Well just as I thought my son and I were over a cold, I get waken up to my little one coughing in the middle of the night and me waking up to a sore throat. Sigh, here we go again.

Keeping my fingers crossed that this doesn't last long as I need to fly across Canada with my family in two weeks and getting the H1N1 virus shot on Nov 9th.

Oh well what can you do.

Inuit Language

I have always loved the Native language or anything else in this area. I have been to a few Pow Wows and have enjoyed them all.
Recently I have been looking on the Internet to learn some Inuit words.
I have learned two words so far and now my son is learning them too.
For polar bear -- nanook
for mommy--- aga or aamam

The Arts

My son who is two and a couple of months has just really gotten into colouring and painting. He himself will ask me for paper and crayons to colour with.

Than at day care he loves to play in the house area playing the daddy with a baby doll in his arms.

These are the special moments to watch before he is interested in doing dare devil things and I hate to think what that is for him when and if that time comes.
The two pics that I have are from awhile ago but you get the picture of him painting and what his pictures look like.

For My Little Boy

I had found this video on you tube one day shortly after our little guy came to live with us.

I wanted to find something that would relate to him.

I just find it beautiful. I hope that I can learn this song enough to teach my little guy the words so he can say he know one song in his language.

But its just beautiful. Whenever I play it for my son he comes to me right away at the computer and watches the video with his little head rested on my lap.

Seeing Snow Flakes

When I was walking home yesterday with my son, I saw snow flakes. WOW

Snow flakes in October. They say we are getting snow at the end of October. Is this the year we have snow for Trick or Treating?

Man, if so I am not sure if my son's costume will fit him with all the layers he will need to stay warm if there is snow.
Oh well I will have to do my best if there is snow.

Winter Jackets or Winter Vests?

Winter Jackets or Winter Vests? This is a hard chose to make. My little guy sweats a lot and it's hard to know how to dress him for the weather.

It seems no matter what I put him in he sweats a lot. Now with the weather getting colder it makes it that much harder to know how to dress my little guy.

Has anybody gone through this and can give me ideas on how to dress a two year old who sweats no matter what he is wearing?

Thanks Giving Weekend

Well another holiday that has come and gone for another year.

During this holiday I took my little guy to the park. He can do so much there. I remeber at the beginning of sping he was not yet able to do half of the stuff there and now he can.
Here are some pics of what he does at the park.

Life passes by so quickly

It really is lots of fun to watch a child grow up.

It seems just yesterday that my son was just a year old.

Now he is two he can do so many things on his own or tries to do on his own.

It seems that everyday he does something new that surprises me.

We were at the park the other day he was so engaged with another little girl playing ball. They were passing the ball back and forth without fighting over the ball.

He will be two and half in Dec and he language is really picking up. He says new words almost everyday that catches me of guard. I was teaching him sign language and he always signed the word milk. Now he is saying the word milk as he signs it at the same time.

I find if we don't pay attention to little things that our little ones are doing there is so much that we can miss. I try to watch what he does or say so I can catch those first precious moments.

Cold and Flu Season

I just love the cold and flu season.

Now I am back at day care and my son is in day care the chances of us catching a cold or flu are higher.

My son has been coughing since last Wednesday. All due to two things. 1- a parent who brought there child into the day care when she was sick and gave her medicine at home to mask it. 2- my son went apple picking last Wednesday where it rain on them and it was cold.

He has been coughing, sneezing, a fever, and today he just started a running nose.

Now mommy is getting sick with a sore throat.

Oh well, I guess there is nothing I can do but tough it out.

Two already

My little man has turned two years old this summer.

Time really does fly by.

He is into anything and everything.

He loves to dance, jump, go to the park, and do everything that a little boys love to do.

We are learning how to use the potty and we are doing good, I guess. He uses the potty sometimes and sometimes he doesn't feel like it.

We are back to our swim classes every Saturday morning. It seems no matter how much time in between the classes he doesn't forget what he learned from the last class.

For Halloween this year he will be a Lion. If you were here last year he was a cute little bunny.

What surprises me!

Before getting my little one, I would cross the street when I was not suppose to. But now having my little guy with me I am so carefully of how I cross the street.

That is, I am carefull crossing and watching cars. I always have to shake my head every time I cross the street with the lights or at a cross walk at how many people of all ages and walks of life don't let me cross or barely let me cross.

I can't even count on my fingers at how many times I was almost run down by a car with my son in his stroller or with him by my side holding my hand crossing the street when it was cleared or when I was given the 'go ahead of me'.

I have a cross walk near my home that I use every time I go to the park. I actually let cars go by first before I start to cross. Most people do drive on by but there are some who wave for me to cross but as I am half crossed the street they start to drive off at a fast pace.

Mind you there are some (very little, but some) who will wait until me and my son are safely crossed the street before driving off and a slow pace. To them I say thank you. When I have people who wait until I finished crossing the street I do turn my head to them and say thank you by nodding my head. Hoping they remember this thank you next time the wait for a parent and child to cross who does not say thank you.

To all of you drivers who wait for a parent and child to cross the street completetly thank you.

Time flies by

Well I guess I am not really good at keeping this up. To those of you who do check my blog on a regular basis sorry. If you leave comments I will be more willing to do more posts.

My son is now 20 months old. Has time ever flied by. It feels that we just got him. But it has been almost a whole year now that he has been with us.

He sure keeps me busy with all his running around and lots and lots of energy. I am still trying to figure out where all this energy comes from. He seems to have a whole lot more too after he eats supper.

My son loves the park but he really loves to swim. He is a little fish when it comes to the water. He is able to jump into the water by himself and even swim by himself with a noodle.

I didn't do much for his frist birhtday but for his second, I am already planning it out.

Here are two pics of him swimming..... Enjoy.

Going on 18 months

My little guy is doing great. Growing like a weed. He is starting to wear size 2. He is very broad in the chest area. If he wanted he could play football when he is older.

Thats cute that Ben is starting to talk. Kat is saying 21 words (11 which he says all the time, 3 which he says sometimes and 6 which he says rarely) and 2 four word sentences and 5 animal noises and 3 animal motions. Aslo he can say 4 2 word sentences.

He can say:

bye /down (own) /meow
hi /hello/ bow
mama /more (ore) /baa
dada/ good (goo)/ moo
wow /cat (at) /bzzz
ouch /up
ohoh /here (ere)
da /done (une)
pa /shoes (oes)
apples/ nice (ice)

For a fish he makes fish noises with his mouth.
For a lion he uses both hands and open and closes them and roars.
For a elephant use raises one arm and makes a noise.

Hi dada.
Bye dada.
Hi mama.

Than the other day after Shawn gave Kat his bath I was holding him and looking in the mirror with him and dady was playing peek a boo. I asked Kat where daddy was and Kat said while pointing in the mirror, "hat's daddy".
